We polished off some rejects from the San Diego International Wine Competition. But most of them were good. We sampled a Leopard Frog Ingenue rose of Cabernet Sauvignon from South Africa; a Red Soles 2010 Paso Robles Tempranillo; a Ripasso 2008 Italian Valpolicella; a Rodney Strong 2009 Sonoma County Merlot; a Concannon “Selected Vinyard” 2010 Pinot Noir; and an “I [Heart] California non-vintage Cabernet Sauvignon. That’s six bottles, and no one remembers anything.

The memorial for Jim Roche will be held at the Escondido Country Club on Saturday, June 2, at 3 PM. Pay tribute to someone who has meant so much to our club.

Nancy Stoke was alert enough to spot this photo of sailors sporting OUR roses as the debarked the Carl Vinson. Thanks, Nancy!
