We learned today about the La Jolla Atheneum, one of San Diego’s leading cultural institutions. Chartered originally through the efforts of Helen Browning Scripps as the La Jolla Reading Room, the Atheneum is one of the few libraries in the country that still offer the public cultural events, such as art displays and concerts.
We had a successful Rotarians at Work Day spiffing up the plaques on the Mount Soledad Veterans Memorial. Fourteen members and friends pitched in to make the work go smoothly—as did the coffee and doughnuts!
Next week, our Zoom meeting will feature club member, Sammy Eskari, who will inform us about this native Iran. It promises to be an interesting and informative presentation.
Max Gurney and Tim McCurry will soon depart to Europe to attend the Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin In Beaune and to attend the party held in Monaco on June 10 to celebrate Max Gurney’s 102nd birthday. Bon Voyage!
