Our friends Jennifer Given and Neil O’Connell described current site enhancements at the popular Mount Soledad Veterans Memorial.
Five new walls are under construction, leaving space for 5,000 additional plaques to honor noteworthy veterans. (Perhaps we’ll need to budget more time for Rotarians-at-Work Day!) Any veteran with an honorable discharge is eligible for a plaque on the wall. The mission of the memorial is to pay a tribute to veterans of all military activity. Coming up this Veterans Day is a tribute to the Code Talkers, Navajo Indians who were indispensable to our campaigns during World War II.

We’ll hold our own tribute on Veterans Day on November 9. The Sheraton is making available a larger room so we can invite at least ten veterans (including Max Gurney!) to join us over lunch. Please come and show your appreciation.
